The Ruins of Paquime
Hundreds of years ago, in northern Chihuahua, a sophisticated culture settled in a large city. At the cultural development of Casas Grandes, in the zone of the Gran Chichimeca, you can find the archaeological city of Paquime. This civilization flourished, declined and disappeared between 700 - 1340 AD. The Paquime enjoyed many comforts, comparatively speaking, for they had an efficient water system which brought hot water from the hot springs to the north of the city, and distributed it to all parts of the building complex. They also had a drainage system that flushed away the refuse. These water channels are visible throughout the ruins.
